A Random Act of Gaming

You heard it right folks. EA is shipping the latest battlefield installment with spyware.

Ok...so turns out some of the things I heard were blown out of proportion.

The only data collected and returned was all in game and was limited to the time the ad was on your screen, the angle at which it was being viewed, the size relative to the screen, etc.

Granted...I'm still not a huge fan of placing ads in games especially when it won't bring savings to the players. Even if it did...ads could be quite distracting or out of place and character for the game.

I agree. If I pay for the game, I am expecting no adds at all. Now, if I pay a reduced priced or get the game for free, then I can understand adds.

I really hope this doesn't lead to a trend where a game costs the usual $40-50 and then $60-70 for an add free version of a game. That would really bite.
